Early Out Tuesdays August 14, 2009

The first early out Tuesday will be August 18th and continue each Tuesday for the remainder of the school year, with limited exceptions. School will start at its normal time, however buses will pick students up at 1:05.
Students will be dismissed for lunch at 12:40. Lunch will be served for all students wishing to stay and eat on campus. Students may leave campus at 12:40 to go home, however they cannot return to campus once they leave. All students who need to ride a bus should stay on campus. Parents can pick up students up starting at 12:40.
There will be no student activities between 1:05 and 3:30. When sports seasons commence, sporting activities will be held starting at 3:30. Students participating in sports would need to leave campus and return at 3:30.

Extended book and schedule distribution hours July 30, 2009

We have added an evening session for book and schedule distribution.
Monday August 10 from 5-7pm you can come and pick up your books and schedules.
Please make every effort to come to your assigned time, however if you cannot make it we have this additional time available.

The AJHS 09-10 back to school newsletter is now available-it contains valuable information to start the school year-you can download it below. If you need a hardcopy they are available in the main school office. Additionally the 09-10 Student Handbook information is available for your reference as well.
UPDATE: Students who do not pick up their books and schedules during their indicated time may pick up schedules only on the 7th,10th and 11th. Books will only be distributed starting the morning of the 12th at 8am.
UPDATE 2: SCHEDULES WILL BE AVAILABLE ONLINE STARTING WEDNESDAY AUGUST 5. YOU CAN ACCESS THEM THROUGH THE PVUSD WEBSITE VIA THE ESCHOOLS PLUS LINK AND THE HOME ACCESS LINK.
YOU WILL NEED STUDENT ID AND BIRTHDATE-ENTER YOUR BIRTHDATE AS MMDDYYYY
YOUR STUDENT ID IS THE SAME AS LAST YEAR-AJHS IS NOT HANDING OUT STUDENT ID’S AT THIS TIME.
Important AJHS information 09-10 school year July 23, 2009

- Aptos Junior High will be having early dismissal days every Tuesday this year. School will end at 1:05 on Tuesdays starting on 8/18. Buses will depart AJHS at about 1:10. There are no afternoon activities at school on these early dismissal Tuesday’s. The exception to this is that after school sports will start at approximately 3:30 on Tuesday , however all students will need to exit campus promptly at 1:05 and then return for any activity that starts later. Please make sure that you have arranged for appropriate transportation for your child on Tuesdays. All other days of the week school ends at 2:55. School starts at 8:30 every day of the week.
- The first day of school is August 12, starting at 8:30 and ending at 2:55
- Books and schedules will be distributed starting August 4. Check the website after July 28th for exact times.
- New student orientation: All incoming 7th graders and new 8th graders who have not attended AJHS are invited to participate in the WEB (Welcome EveryBody) program. This program will be held on Friday August 7, from 9am to 11:30am. Please meet in the quad
- New Attendance Line: Please call 688-3234 to report your absence-this line will be used for absences and attendance related issues only.
- 688-3235 is the new main school line-please use this number to get a hold of the AJHS front Office.

Much to the chagrin of AJHS students around the globe, school will be resuming in just 3.5 short weeks. Mark your calendars for August 12 at 8:30am. That is the official time and date of the first bell of the 2009-2010 school year.
Also, make sure you check in to the web page regularly between now and then to make sure you stay up to date on all the important news.
The office is now open from 9-3 every day. If you have questions please call us at 688-3235 or stop on by.

Preparations are underway for the 09-10 magazine drive. In the meantime if you are going to be renewing any magazine subscriptions please do so online. You can visit Reading at Home and then make sure you type in Aptos Junior High and your students name so that they receive credit for the purchase.
You can also subscribe to new magazines at this same location.

Aptos Junior High School would like to encourage parents of incoming seventh graders to attend our informative parents’ night Thursday, May 7. Learn about our program from administration, teachers and parents at Aptos Junior. The program begins in the Gym at 7pm . Hear presentations from the department head of each subject area until 9:00.
