Site Council Parent Representatives Elections Process

Aptos Junior High Site Council Needs You!

We’re looking for three Aptos Junior High School (AJHS) parents for the School Site Council(SSC) which meets on the fourth Tuesday each month in Room 2 at 5:15 p.m.*

Site Council Member Responsibilities:**

  • Attend, and when necessary, vote at monthly meetings

  • Contribute to School Plan creation, review, and revisions

Site Council Member Benefits:

  • Hands-on involvement in improving Aptos Junior High School

  • Represent parents to influence the evolution of School Goals and Action Steps

  • Network with other parents and school teachers and staff

Timeline for 2018-2019 Site Council Elections:

  • On Monday, August 20:  Parents will be notified via email of three parent members needed for AJHS SSC and the application process.

  • By Thursday, August 23, interested parents please submit a 200-word or less biography describing your qualifications.  Send biographies to Principal Rich Moran at titled “SSC Biography.” Please CC office manager, Deann Najera at

  • There are three seats open.  We completely understand that some parents have no desire to "run" for election if there are more than three candidates, but are equally willing to serve the school if there are confirmed vacancies.  Please indicate if you wish to run for election or if you would prefer to have your Bio withdrawn if there are more than three candidates. In other words, we want all the involvement we can possibly get, but if you would prefer NOT to run against other parent members for an open seat, please let us know with your Bio submission (and please do come to the meetings to participate regardless!).

  • Wednesday, August 29th from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.:  Ballots that include Candidate Biographies will be emailed to all families and distributed at Back to School Night.

  • Parents please vote for ONLY THREE Site Council representatives using the Google Form ballot to be sent on August 29.

  • You must submit your vote by August 31 at 2:55 p.m.

  • By Tuesday, September 4th:  Elected members will be notified by phone so they can prepare to attend the first AJHS SSC Meeting on Tuesday, September 25th at 5:15 p.m. in room 2.

    • *Meeting days and times on the AJHS Website Calendar are subject to change according to the needs of the new School Site Council and in an effort to align with other Aptos/PVUSD schools and the AJHS Home and School Club.  Meetings are almost always held on the fourth Tuesday of the month and the public is always welcome.

Meeting Times and Dates:

  • Home and School Meetings will be held in Room #2 on  Tuesday afternoons from 4:15 to 5:15 pm.
  • School Site Council Meetings will also be held on Tuesday evenings in Room #2 from 5:15-6:15

Semester 1: 9/25, 10/23, 11/27, 12/18, 

Semester 2: 1/22, 2/19, 3/19, 4/23, 5/21

We want to thank current Sea Dragon parents that have offered support and or expressed an interest the School Site Council (SSC) this year. Your participation is greatly appreciated! 


In general, SSC meetings will be meeting on the 3rd or 4th (variable) Tuesday afternoon of each month from 5:15 to 6:15 pm. Meetings will begin on 9/20/18 but because of holidays, there will be a few dates that are variable. Agendas for upcoming meetings will be posted on this website at least 72 hours in advance.

School Site Council (SSC)member responsibilities include:

  • Attendance at each SSC meeting 
  • Review of school plan and budgets with the principal
  • Review of pertinent school data such as test scores, discipline, demographics, etc...
  • Review of district information and initiatives 
  • Other duties as required


AJHS Home and School Club:  


The Home and School Club is underway! Again, we have to thank our parents for their willingness to donate their time to participate in such a meaningful aspect of our school.


The Home and School Club is the organization that helps run and mange fundraising opportunities, student incentive events, school beautification and “non-district” finances. Our mission is to provide effective leadership, act as parent/community liaisons, and promote an inclusive, high achieving and safe school community.


Parents are encouraged to attend these meetings to help improve the overall quality of AJHS for our students. In general, Home and School Club meetings will be meeting on the .......  afternoons of each month from 4:15 to 5:15 pm.
